Napster is an online music streaming service.

In 1999, Napster started its journey as a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing software. It gained popularity for making MP3 sharing easy and fast. However, due to legal issues it had to reinvent itself. Today it is an on-demand music streaming service.

Napster makes it easy to discover your favorite music through its various algorithms. At the moment, Napster offers two plans. The unRadio plan has a 14-day free trial period. After the free trial, the subscription is $4.99/month. The unRadio subscription gives you ad-free personalized radio. You can skip as many songs as you want. The PREMIER plan has a 30-day trial, and the subscription is $9.99/month. With this plan, you can download songs to your device for offline listening. It also gives you unlimited on-demand access to all the Napster songs. It recommends songs from lists of friends and members who have similar tastes. If you subscribe to the PREMIER family plan, you can have 5 accounts attached to a single subscription.

Napster has a repository of 32 million licensed songs, and it is growing every day. The music streaming bitrate is a little complicated. On a desktop browser, the streaming is limited to 128 Kbps. With the Napster's own software, songs can be played at 192 Kbps on the desktop. On mobile devices, it is possible to play music at 320 Kbps. However, not all songs are available at the highest bit rate. So, you might have to listen to 64 Kbps versions of some songs.

Napster has great support for mobile phones and tablets, and its user interfaces are easy-to-use. It supports iOS, Android, and Windows devices. You can also play it on your Wii U Console and Sonos app. Or you can connect Napster to your home theater system using Chromecast or Airplay.
